A one-person IT team's daily struggle

As a one-person IT department for a growing K-12 school, Josh Siqueiros faced the significant challenge of managing a distributed network of endpoints for teachers and staff. Before his arrival, the school relied on a third-party IT company that used a mix of disconnected tools. When Siqueiros took over the role to save the school money, he inherited a fragmented system that was difficult to manage, especially with his office located a long walk away from other buildings.

The previous setup relied on an RMM that was often offline and didn't provide adequate visibility. Siqueiros also lacked a centralized way to handle help desk tickets, manage software installations and perform essential maintenance tasks like driver and Windows updates. “I can be sitting in my office working on something and I can remote into their computer from my office and still take care of them while working on another project at the same time,”  he explained. “It's really kind of doubled my ability to get to people.” 

Pulseway's mobile app also provided a huge advantage for a one-man team. Siqueiros can now resolve issues on the fly, even when he’s off-campus. “I do use the app quite a bit. Even when I was up camping one time, I used the app to remote into somebody's computer,”  he commented.

In addition to remote access, Pulseway's auto-discovery feature was a major factor in Siqueiros's decision when comparing it to other tools on the market. This feature automatically finds computers on the network and deploys the Pulseway agent, simplifying the onboarding of new devices. Pulseway's integration with Active Directory also proved to be a key time-saver, allowing him to easily reset passwords and unlock accounts from the platform.

And to further expand his support capabilities, the platform's automation features are helping with his workload. He has set up workflows to automatically deploy software and driver updates upon device registration, transitioning the IT department from reactive support to proactive administration.
